Code of Alabama Section 41-9-430)… (Read More) Continuously Operating Reference Station (CORS) To be monitored at the main campus of the U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville, AL., the CORS will supply coverage that extends 50 miles… (Read More) Alabama Department of Homeland Security (AL DHS) Utilizing a 3D globe interface to display terrain data using streaming internet technology… (Read more) Alabama Resource Management System (ARMS) The U.S. Space & Rocket Center’s (USSRC) Geospatial Training and Application Center (GTAC) has been requested by the Alabama Department of Children’s Services to assist in the development and implementation o the Alabama Resource Management System (ARMS). ARMS will provide the ability to visualize, analyze, query and map the health, human, social, and cultural services and programs existing within the State of Alabama with existing socio-economic, demographic and political data in an interactive internet-based mapping application. AlabamaView Partners affiliated with AlabamaView are developing methods of acquiring digital orthophotography for the entire state in a more cost effective manner... The project will develop prototype systems using tracking technology. Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM) - Brownfield The U.S. Space & Rocket Center’s (USSRC) Geospatial Training and Application Center (GTAC) has been requested by the Alabama Department of Environmental Management to assist in the development, implementation and outreach of the Brownfield GIS mapping programs. Since many of Brownfield activities rely heavily on the ability to manage and make available information about the area, the project will develop a web-based GIS system with document/content management system integration to facilitate the needs and processes of the Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM) Brownfield Program. Further, it is the intention of this project to complete the tasks and expected level of effort required to provide ADEM with an advanced, functional, and interactive solution that will not only provide the needed functionality, but encourage use by the intended audience. Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM) - Infield Reporting The U.S. Space & Rocket Center’s (USSRC) Geospatial Training and Application Center (GTAC) has been requested by the Alabama Department of Environmental Management to assist in the development and implementation of the Infield Reporting and Automated Inspection programs. The project delivers automation of existing reporting practices to include digital input forms, in field inspection reporting, and secure transmission of data from the inspection computers to the appropriate databases housed within ADEM. Destination Lab Destination Labs are unique sites around the world chosen specifically for their relevance to the subject matter. For example, the GTAC team worked with the City of Celebration, Florida. Celebration is an innovative, “new town” that successfully combines architecture, education, health and technology in ways that promote a strong sense of community. Founded in 1994, Celebration is home to approximately 3,500 residents. The community is located on 4,900 acres just outside Orlando, Florida. The three- to five- day, project-based sessions were taught using the city as the learning surface. The sessions provided immersion into the community of practice, interaction with the tools and technology, and in-field experiences at the site. Destination Lab is a non-stop training experience that immerses participants into the practical application of the technology. In addition to interacting with some of the country’s leading geospatial technologists and practitioners, the participants utilize GIS, GPS, remote sensing, and communications technology in a project-based environment to solve real-world challenges. Mobile Training UnitGTAC and DESTINATION LAB provide a mobile resource for bringing the training lab to your location. The mobile lab provides the latest in wireless, portable computing and communications to fulfill field operation requirements in the area of Situation Awareness, Mapping and Communications Applications for Disaster Management, and Homeland Security for First Responders.
